Apprentice Scenes
Santa Fe Opera – 2018
Props Master: Randy Lutz
A tufted leather arm chair needed a foot rest for one of the Apprentice Scenes, so one of our carpenters built the frame and I upholstered the seat. This was my first time tufting, and without much guidance the exercise took quite a bit of trial and error. My pattern had to be resized twice, and even after completing the piece I spent quite a while with a thin metal ruler creasing the folds to get rid of extra material.
