Though I began this project assisting Tom, I ended up building the entire Father Dragon puppet from start to finish. The frame was half ply, with rattan framing and welded 1/4″ rod wings, which bolted in. When we were told that the wings needed to bounce, we created a joint out of PVC that flexed with the motion of the puppet. The neck was created out of microfoam disks strung with 1/16″ aircraft cable and a central core of hemp rope.
